Overview of PR Couture

Crosby Noricks, the creator of the blog, PR Couture, obtained her master’s degree at San Diego State University in Public Relations and then started a career as a manager for the in-house PR and marketing department for an e-commerce jewelry company.  It was around this time in 2006 that Noricks realized that there was a major void she felt needed to be filled in the world of PR— there was no place for PR professionals in the fashion industry to come to for advice and news on PR specifically centered around the fashion industry.  This gave Noricks the idea to start her own blog, and PR Couture was born.  PR Couture is described as a blog that “explores the ever-evolving role of public relations, marketing and social media in the fashion industry.”  Since its development, PR Couture has received many recognitions, including, San Diego Metro Magazine’s “40 under 40,” PR Web’s one of “25 Essential Public Relations Blogs You Should Be Reading,” and Noricks has been named “Blogger of the Year.”

Using PR Couture in Media Relations

PR Couture offers a lot of great advice that focuses on media relations for PR practitioners and those interested in pursuing a career in fashion PR.  In the blog’s “Read” and “Goodies” tabs, Noricks offers loads of articles that give advice and tips on becoming and staying relevant in media with the use of social media platforms.  Included are articles on things such as how to create a media relations plan, proper pitching techniques, and interviewing techniques.

Some articles I found especially helpful that had a strong focus on media relations and offered great advice are:

·         How to Write Fashion PR Goals, Objectives, Strategies and Tactics

·         Get Multiple Clients Media Coverage with a Single Pitch

·         Front Row Fashion PR: How to work with Celebrities & Celeb

·         Give Great Interviews with these 10 Haute Media Training Tips

·         Fashion PR: 5 Tips to Recover from Bad Press

All in all, I think PR Couture is a great blog for those interested in fashion PR, especially students, recent grads and adults looking to break into the world of fashion PR; Crosby Noricks really caters to these demographics through her posts.  Not only a fashion PR and marketing expert/blogger, Noricks is also a public speaker who travels and teaches classes and gives lectures on her experiences in fashion PR, in addition to advice on working in the field of PR.  Noricks exudes a passion for fashion PR and helping others discover the joys of having a career in this field.
